Welcome to the Cell and Protein Engineering Research Laboratory at Rice University!
We reprogram cellular networks that maintain protein homeostasis in mammalian cells for applications in biomedicine and bionanotechnology.
Our research focuses on:
- developing protein engineering tools for controlling protein levels in living cells
- designing orthogonal genetic circuits for monitoring and manipulating the proteostasis network
- engineering nanomaterials that interface with cellular clearance mechanisms in a predictable and finely tunable fashion
- understanding the interaction between engineered nanomaterials and cells
Our laboratory is involved in both fundamental and applied research and it is highly multi-disciplinary, working at the interface between biology and engineering. Anyone interested in more information or in a research position in the lab should contact Dr. Laura Segatori (firstname.lastname@example.org).
